Report Wizard Licensing
When you install and run Student Manager Reports, it runs as a 30-day "unactivated" version. This version has all of the features of the full-working program, except it only functions for 30 days after running it for the first time and certain output types only output 20 or less records.
If you need more time to evaluate Student Manager Reports, you can request that the demo period be extended by 30 days. You have to provide contact information (name, company, address, and so forth) and an email address to which a 30-day activation code can be emailed. Enter the activation code provided in the appropriate place on the dialog that appears every time you start Student Manager Reports, and you can use the program for 30 days more.
When you purchase Student Manager Reports, choose the "activate" option in the welcome dialog to activate the program. There's nothing new to install and all of the reports you created are still available.
License Activation
Student Manager Reports is licensed on a per-user basis. Here's how licensing works:
You are asked each time you run Student Manager Reports if you want to activate it. If you choose to do so, the License Manager appears. Click the Add button to add a license. The registration number that appears is based on several factors, one of which is information about the system where Student Manager Reports is installed (not necessarily the workstation it's running on, but the system where the program resides). Enter the serial number you were given when you purchased Student Manager Reports and click Online to activate it. The activation code that appears is also based on several factors, including the registration number, serial number, and number of licenses purchased. Licensing information is stored in a file named SFQuery.lic in the Data subdirectory of the program folder. For an unlimited license file, the file is named Unlimited.lic.
Users in the Administrators user group (such as the ADMIN user) are the only ones who have access to the Maintain Users and Groups dialog in Student Manager Reports. In that dialog, an administrative user can only define as many user names as there are licenses. They can also specify which users use which licenses if more than one type of license is installed. For example, if there are two Ultimate and five Basic licenses, they can define up to two Ultimate users and five Basic users.
When you log in, Student Manager Reports does two checks. The first is how many users are currently running Student Manager Reports. If all licenses are currently in use (for example, five users are currently in Student Manager Reports and there are five licenses in total), you are informed of this and Student Manager Reports terminates. The second check is whether another user is logged in with the same user name. If so, you are informed of this and Student Manager Reports terminates. So, Student Manager Reports licensing is a combination of named users (you can only define as many user names as there are licenses) and concurrent use (only as many users as there are licenses can be logged in at the same time).
The License Manager in the Tools menu, which is only available for users in the Administrators user group, can be used to add or remove Student Manager Reports licenses or see the currently installed licenses.
License Types
There are four types of licenses:
Basic: Basic users cannot create or edit reports and have certain other limitations.
Pro: Pro users can create and edit some report types and can create formulas.
Premium: Premium users can create and edit more report types than Pro and also have access to the Advanced Report Designer and Template Editor.
Ultimate: this is a replacement for the Report Designer license in earlier versions (existing Report Designer licenses now appear as "Ultimate"). Ultimate users have full functionality.

License Manager
The License Manager function in the Tools menu, which is only available for administrators or when you choose to activate from the Welcome dialog, allows you to view, add, or remove Student Manager Reports licenses.
The list at the left shows the serial number for each installed license. To see the activation code, registration number, type and number of users for a particular license, select it from the list; the Selected License area shows the appropriate information. The Total Licenses area shows the total number of installed licenses by type of license.
Activate License
When you run Student Manager Reports, if your copy isn't activated, a Welcome dialog appears informing you how many days you have left to use the program without activating it.
Student Manager Reports runs in unactivated mode for up to 30 days after you run it for the first time. If choose to activate, the License Manager appears, allowing you to activate the program. You can simply click the Cancel button to continue if you don't wish to activate it at this time.
Once you have activated the program, you can manage your licenses using the License Manager in the Tools menu.
IMPORTANT
You must activate Student Manager Reports within 30 days or it will stop working.
Add License(s)
To increase the number of licenses, contact ACEware Systems, Inc. to obtain a serial number for the additional number of licenses you require. In the License Manager, click the Add button. There are a couple of ways you can add a license:
- If you have a serial number and an Internet connection, enter the serial number and click the Online button to obtain your activation code immediately. If something goes wrong (for example, if the Web server is down), you get a warning message and have to try again later.
Note that if your computer accesses the Internet using a proxy server, you'll have to tell Student Manager Reports about that server by filling in the Proxy Server settings in the Options dialog.
- Email Technical Support to obtain an activation code; be sure to specify your serial number and the registration number that appears in the Add License dialog when contacting us. We'll provide you with an activation code; enter the serial number and that code and click the OK button.
Remove License(s)
To remove licenses, such as when you want to move a Student Manager Reports installation to another system, select the license to remove from the list and click the Remove button. You are asked to confirm the license should be removed, and a removal code is displayed for your reference.
If your software maintenance has been renewed, click the Renew button to display a dialog in which you can either manually enter a renewal code provided when you renewed or click the Online button to read the renewal information from our server.
Click the Refresh button to contact our server and synchronize your license information with ours.
Click the Copy button to copy the selected serial number to the Clipboard. This makes it easier to specify your serial number when requesting technical support.
