System Hang-ups/Crashes
System hang-ups and crashes are almost always caused by a network connection loss. If you hang-up during a task or if Student Manager unexpectedly shuts down, check the server connection. If you have lost connection to the server, you must re-establish the connection before you can continue work in Student Manager.
User Files
If your system crashes when users are in Student Manager, the system doesn't have the chance to log the users off the system. So they may receive a message telling them they are already logged in when trying to re-start Student Manager. In these cases, their User files must be deleted and recreated before they can log into the system.
To delete user files:
- Navigate to the Student Manager program folder.
- Locate and delete the User's .dbf and .fpt user files. These will be named the first six letters of their user name followed by 'US'. For instance, if the user name is Cheryl, the user files will be named cherylus.dbf and cherylus.fpt.
The user can now log into the system. However, since their user files have been deleted, they will receive the First Time Login message. They must shut down and log in again so their user files can be re-created.
