AGECL ​
Returns the person's Age Group.

Required Parameters ​
- Date field from the Names table (i.e. nmbirth, nmaddate, nmupdate)
Optional Parameters ​
- Numeric Return Value:
1=returns person's age group using these categories: 12 and under, 13-23, 24-43, 44-61, 61+
2=returns person's age group using these categories: 17 and under, 18-25, 26-34, 35-50, 51+
3=returns person's age group using these categories: 2 and under, 3-11, 12-19, 20-31, 32-46, 47-64, 65+
4=returns person's age group using these categories: 4 and under, 5-9, 10-13, 14-18, 19-24, 25-34, 35-49, 50-64, 65+
5=returns person's age group using these categories: 17 and under, 18-19, 20-21, 22-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-49, 50-64, 65+
6=returns person's age group using these categories: 17 and under, 18-24, 25-34, 35-34, 45-54, 55-64, 65+
7=returns person's age group using these categories: 17-18, 19-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-54, 55-59, and 60+
Example(s) ​
AGECL(nmbirth,1) returns person's age group (i.e. 12 and Under if person is under 13 years old).
Notes ​
When running the Reports > Statistics > Names > Demographic Summary report and choosing the Age (in years) option (step 2 of Demographic Summary Report instructions), the Age Cohort groupings use the categories from the Parameter 2 options above:
- Five Set (A) = Option 1
- Five Set (B) = Option 2
- Eight Set (C)= Option 3
- Nine Set (D) = Option 4
- IPEDS Set = Option 5
- AMA Set = Option 6
- Just Age = does not group records into age cohort groupings
